Do Electric Cars Have to Pay London Congestion Charges?
One of the main reasons customers travelling to London look at hiring an EV is to avoid the London Congestion Charge. Cars capable of achieving zero emissions, including all of those in the Volt-Age fleet, are given a 100% discount for the congestion zone. In October 2021, the rules will tighten when only full EV’s will qualify for a discount. Volt-Age applies for the 100% discount for all of our EVs so our customers can enjoy a more cost-effective trip to London.
Non-exempt cars are charged £15 per day if you pay on the day or in advance. Drivers can pay the fee up to three days after at a slightly higher cost of £17.50. Failure to pay the fee will lead to a fine of £160. (Do you have to apply for anything to avoid the congestion charge when renting a vehicle?)
Is Parking Free for Electric Cars in London?
Some London boroughs offer free or reduced charge parking for electric vehicles, such as in Westminster, where EV drivers pay for just ten minutes for an on-street pay-to-park bay but can park for the maximum period allowed. Residents with an EV can enjoy a free parking permit in Westminster but this does vary in each borough.
Can You Rent a Tesla in the UK?
You certainly can, we have the latest models from Tesla including the Model S, Model X and the Model 3 available to hire for those travelling to the capital or anywhere in the UK. We have helped customers hire a Tesla for their stay in London or a smaller city car like a BMW i3 or an electric SUV such as the Kia E-Niro.

We also have the Standard and Long-range models available so check out our Tesla pages for all the latest prices.
